Rutopía Raises Seed Round to Generate Over $20 Million USD in Income for 400+ Rural Communities Within Three Years

Mexico City, October 23rd 2024 – Rutopía, a Mexican B Corp and social enterprise that connects sustainable tourism projects in rural communities with travelers from around the world, has raised a seed funding round led by the elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization, with participation from Boosting Opportunities Fund, ATTA Impact Capital, with an earlier investment from Fondo Nimbus.

Ponterra secures first-of-a-kind biodiversity-credit backed loan from Fondo Nimbus, pioneering a novel project finance structure for nature-based solutions.

Ponterra, the vertically integrated reforestation company restoring degraded land in Panama and Mexico, today announced a USD 270,000 project finance loan from Fondo Nimbus. The loan is the first known financing vehicle to integrate biodiversity credits alongside carbon credits as part of its repayment structure, marking a significant milestone not only for Ponterra, but for the emerging voluntary biodiversity market as a whole.
