Ponterra Mexico’s mission is to work closely with local cattle farming communities in Puebla & Veracruz on transforming their land into biodiversity-rich forests through native species restoration and rotational grazing. They lease a part of the land that has potential for reforestation and offer the farmers resources on regenerative ranching to further improve their income and ensure longevity of the regenerative transformation. They’ve established a women-led nursery to propagate native local species and engage nearby universities and NGOs on research and collaborations. Through their work, they sequester carbon, reverse biodiversity loss, and engage local cattle farmers in a more regenerative relationship with their land.

We are working with Ponterra in the early stages of establishing and validating this model, as well as showcasing to the market how carbon credits and biodiversity credits can be combined to create a much more profound impact in ecosystems.
